Yes! to quality landlords

Much of what TrustMark does involves helping consumers find reliable, reputable tradespeople in a range of sectors, however our remit extends beyond this.

Following the Each Home Counts review, TrustMark became the Government Endorsed Quality Scheme tasked with helping to improve the warmth, comfort, health and energy efficiency of British homes.  These objectives are designed to support the government in its aim of reducing both carbon emissions and fuel poverty.

We have always worked towards these goals in the spirit of collaboration, notably working alongside our Scheme Providers to deliver enhanced consumer protection for people having work carried out in or around their homes.

In 2019 TrustMark is taking this collaborative approach forward; working with even more organisations to help drive quality in homes.  This program of initiatives will launch with Better Homes for Hastings on 15th March.

This event will bring together private landlords, housing associations, tenants and businesses (including TrustMark Registered Businesses) in the Hastings area.  Hastings has a particularly high percentage of privately rented property and Better Homes for Hastings will focus on the minimum standards of comfort and energy efficiency that should be expected in rented properties and the incoming regulations governing these factors.

Better Homes for Hastings is hosted by TrustMark in partnership with Hastings Borough Council, East Sussex County Council and the Shine project and will help teach landlords and tenants about their rights and responsibilities, whilst highlighting options in terms of improvements and funding.

Businesses that supply services to enhance the quality of rented accommodation will also be able to use Better Homes for Hastings to reach out to potential customers.  Landlords and tenants that attend Better Homes for Hastings can be certain the businesses they engage with in this forum will be technically competent and have made an additional commitment to customer service and good trading practices.

TrustMark is confident Better Homes for Hastings will have a positive effect on the quality of rented accommodation in the Hastings area.  Following this pilot event additional projects are planned for later in 2019, including some in partnership with TrustMark Scheme Providers.
