TrustMark, the only Government-endorsed ‘find a tradesperson’ scheme in the UK, is delighted to announce that they have partnered with East Sussex County Council Trading Standards to offer tradespeople national recognition with local reassurance. Contractors and their customers in East Sussex will now have their county backed by the TrustMark Trading Standards Approved scheme.
All successful Trading Standards Approved businesses must pass additional checks to allow customers to have greater confidence when choosing a tradesperson. All Trading Standards Approved firms will be vetted by both Trading Standards and TrustMark before they successfully qualify.
Trading Standards approval means that reputable, quality firms are recognised for their hard work and good long-term trading practices, as well as offering increased protection for consumers in an industry that is plagued by rogue traders.
For the first time, Local Authorities across the country can work together to deliver this scheme. In addition, top notch firms in East Sussex will now benefit from the quality recognition they deserve and will have the added value of being able to display
across the local East Sussex Trading Standards Approved logo.
Richard Strawson, East Sussex Trading Standards Manager, said “We are keen to provide consumers with a source of assured, reliable businesses within the County. Our new partnership with TrustMark will help us to do this and this is why we are happy to vet and approve Trustmark members who seek our endorsement.”
Simon Ayers, Chief Executive of TrustMark said “A warm welcome to East Sussex County Council, it’s great to have them in the scheme, making a difference to firms operating in the area. Together, TrustMark and East Sussex Trading Standards will provide greater protection for homeowners in this area, as well as providing support for those tradespeople that work to the very highest standard but are perhaps not always appreciated”.
TrustMark launched the Trading Standards Approved scheme in November of last year. The scheme was devised to bring about positive change in the repair, maintenance & improvement sector, safeguarding consumers against the practices of rogue traders and giving them greater choice.
